These terms govern your use of AgentBak, operated by Baud Bot LLC. We've written them in plain English. If something isn't clear, email us.

1. What AgentBak Is

AgentBak is an encrypted backup and restore service for AI agent identities. It consists of a CLI tool (vault) and optional managed cloud storage.

By using AgentBak — whether the CLI, the web dashboard, or the API — you agree to these terms. If you're using AgentBak on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.

2. Zero-Knowledge and Your Data

We cannot read your backups. Your data is encrypted client-side before it reaches our servers. We store encrypted blobs. We have no access to your passphrase, your encryption key, or the contents of your backups.

This is a deliberate architectural choice, not a policy. The encryption happens on your machine. What we receive is mathematically opaque to us.

Because we cannot access your data, we also cannot:

  • Recover your data if you lose your passphrase and all recovery codes
  • Provide data to third parties in response to a subpoena (we have nothing to give)
  • Verify what you're storing (we see only bytes)

3. Your Passphrase Is Your Responsibility

If you lose your passphrase and all of your recovery codes, your backups are unrecoverable. No password reset. No support ticket. The math doesn't allow it.

This is what zero-knowledge means: the key to your data lives only with you.

We strongly recommend:

  • Storing your passphrase in a password manager (1Password, Bitwarden, etc.)
  • Generating recovery codes on first backup and storing them offline — print them, put them in a safe
  • Treating your recovery codes like a house key: don't lose them, don't leave them on your desk

We are not liable for data loss resulting from lost passphrases or recovery codes. This is not a limitation of our care — it's a consequence of the zero-knowledge design.

4. Accounts and Billing

Free tier: no payment required, no credit card, no tricks. The free tier includes full local CLI functionality with no expiration.

Paid tiers (Solo, Pro): billed monthly or annually via Stripe. You can cancel at any time from your dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep access until then.

We don't do automatic upgrades. If we change pricing, we'll give you at least 30 days notice before any change affects your billing.

Refunds: if something broke on our end and your data was lost or inaccessible, contact us and we'll make it right. We won't fight you on a refund if we caused a problem.

5. Acceptable Use

AgentBak is for backing up AI agent workspaces. Use it for that. Don't:

  • Use AgentBak as general-purpose file storage (there are better tools for that)
  • Upload content that's illegal to possess in your jurisdiction
  • Try to breach or probe our infrastructure
  • Abuse the API in ways that harm other users (we'll rate-limit or suspend you)

We can't see what you're storing, but we can see usage patterns. Accounts that store hundreds of gigabytes of data or make thousands of API calls per minute aren't backed up workspaces — we'll reach out before taking action.

6. Self-Hosting

The AgentBak backend is open source (MIT license). You can run it yourself. If you're self-hosting, you're responsible for your own infrastructure, storage, and security.

Self-hosters get the same zero-knowledge CLI and .vault format. The encryption is identical regardless of where your blobs land.

Self-hosted setups are not covered by our SLA or support tiers, unless you've purchased a support agreement separately.

7. Limitation of Liability

We try hard to keep your backups safe and available. But we're not perfect, and critical data should always have multiple layers of protection.

AgentBak is provided "as is." To the extent permitted by law, Baud Bot LLC is not liable for:

  • Data loss resulting from account cancellation, passphrase loss, or hardware failure on our end
  • Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
  • Any amount exceeding what you paid us in the last 12 months

We will be liable if we caused the problem through negligence or breach of contract. If our servers lose your encrypted blob because we made a mistake, that's on us.

8. Termination

You can close your account any time from your dashboard. When you do, we'll schedule deletion of your encrypted blobs within 30 days. Download anything you need before then.

We can terminate accounts that violate these terms. We'll usually warn you first unless the violation is severe (e.g., active abuse of infrastructure). If we terminate you incorrectly, contact us — we'll review it.

9. Changes to These Terms

If we make material changes to these terms, we'll email you at least 30 days before they take effect. The current version is always at this URL. Continuing to use AgentBak after changes take effect means you accept them. If you don't accept a change, close your account before the effective date.
